Himachal State Museum is one of Shimla’s popular tourist attractions and preserves the northern state history and offers an opportunity to understand the cultural heritage of the specific period.

The State Museum is divided into five major galleries, known as Pre-Historic Gallery, Wood Carving Gallery, Wall Painting Gallery, Archeology Gallery, and Numismatic Gallery. The State Museum was opened in 1974 and is located 2.5 kilometers west of Scandal Point.
