Netrani, formally known as Pigeon Island and Heart Shape Island is a coral island, which has a coral reef with many varieties of coral, butterflyfish, triggerfish, parrotfish, and shrimps can be seen here, located in the Arabian Sea.
Located about 19 km from the temple town of Murudeshwar, the Island, can be seen 15 km from the central coast, which includes the numerous beaches of Bhatkal city as well as Murudeshwar beach. Besides pigeons, the wild goats are the other inhabitants of the island.
Most famously known for scuba diving facilities, this island is easily accessible from Bhatkal, Mangalore, and Bangalore. Apart from bats, a species of mongoose was also spotted on the island.
