Located about 13 kilometers from the taluk headquarters of Bhatkal, Murudeshwar is one of the most famous and sacred town in Karnataka, famous for the second-tallest statue of Shiva in the world. Located on the shoreline of the Arabian Sea, the town is also renowned for the Murdeshwar Temple.
Netrani Beach, formally known as Pigeon Island and Heart Shape Island is a coral island, which has a coral reef with many varieties of coral, butterflyfish, triggerfish, parrotfish, and shrimps can be seen here, located in the Arabian Sea.
Located about 19 km from the temple town of Murdeshwar, the Netrani Island, can be seen 15 km from the central coast, which includes the numerous beaches of Bhatkal city as well as Murudeshwar beach. Besides pigeons, the wild goats are the other inhabitants of the island.
