The oldest museum of Gujarat, Kutch Museum is located opposite Hamirsar Lake in Kutch. Kutch museum, earlier known as Fergusson Museum was initially formed as a part of the School of Arts established by Khengarji III, the Maharao of Kutch State.
Constructed in the Italian Gothic style, the Kutch Museum has the largest existing collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions. The Kutch Museum was designed by state engineer Mac Leyland and built by local builders known as the Mistris of Kutch.
