Spread over a vast area of about 7505 square km, Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Great Rann of Kutch, Gujarat. The largest (area-wise) Wildlife Sanctuary in India, Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary was declared a sanctuary in February 1986. One of the largest seasonal saline wetlands, Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary supports a wide variety of water birds and mammalian wildlife.
The sanctuary’s northern boundary forms the international border between India and Pakistan and is heavily patrolled by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India.
