One of the longest and highest aqueducts in South Asia, the Mathur Aqueduct, or Mathur Hanging Trough, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kanyakumari District, located in the kalkulam taluk of Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu state.
Constructed over the Pahrali River, Mathoor Aqueduct was built in 1966 by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Honorable Chief Minister Kamarajar, as a dehydration cure measure across the river Pahrali.
Along with the height of the pillars about 115 feet, Mathur Aqueduct is a concrete structure, supported by 28 enormous pillars.
