The largest city in the North Malabar region, Kannur, formerly known as Cannanore or Cananor, is a city and a Municipal Corporation in Kannur district, state of Kerala.
The city was known as Cannanore, during the British rule in India, when Kannur was a part of the Malabar District. With active business connections with Persia and Arabia, it was an important trading center in the 12th century.
Located on the Malabar Coast of Kerala, it is one of the most prominent destinations in Kerala, famously known for its, Beaches, lush greenery, and historic landmarks.
