Talakaveri or Talacauvery is the place that is generally considered to be the source of the river Kaveri and a sacred place for many Hindus. Stands at the height of 1276 meters above sea level, Talakaveri is one of the most popular attractions in Karnataka.
Located on Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala in Coorg district, Talacauvery also consists of shrines dedicated to Lord Agastheeswarar and Lord Vinayaka.
The Shiva temple has an ancient Shivling and according to legend, Lord Shiva appeared here before the sage Agastya. There is a square tank at Talacauvery named Kaveri Kundike or Brahma Kundike, which is considered to be River Cauvery’s birthplace.
