The largest mosque in India and one of the largest mosques in Asia, Jama Masjid in Bhopal, officially known as Taj-ul-Masajid, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city of Bhopal.

The construction of this mosque began during the reign of Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, by Nawab Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal, and continued to be built by his daughter Sultan Jahan Begum during his lifetime.

In 1971, Allama Mohammad Imran Khan Nadwi Azhari and Maulana Sayed Hashmat Ali Sahab of Bhopal started the reconstruction of the mosque after long dismissals after the 1857 war.
